Steel Commercial Shelving - Where Is It Used?

Around 1200 BC, metal workers found that each time the iron was melted down and reshaped with an anvil or called, to enclume, it became stronger and stronger.  Slowly the iron, due to expelling of the carbon from reforging it over and over, created something called steel, and then stainless steel which has at least 11% chromium and other alloys added to it making it glossy and strong, it will not rust like other steel will rust.  Now, in modern times, steel commercial shelving came into the picture and people began to realize, and especially if you work in a restaurant, how durable, easy to clean and long lasting their stainless steel shelves and wares in the kitchens remained.

Easy to mount overhead of the grills, and sometimes, boltless, racks and shelves which store other stainless items were placed.  It is the same with do-nut shops using stainless shelving for their bakery racks, hoppers making french do-nuts, their huge mixers coming from special manufacturers. A steel commercial shelving will also be underneath the prep table in the restaurant where the chef's helpers prepare the salads, fruits and vegetables for use during the day.  There are also kitchen spice racks to store spices and other often used vanillas, salts and much more.

Boltless racks sound like a great idea for our garage. It sounds like they are typically for businesses, but does anyone know how I can get some for my house? Is there some kind of store that carries this grade of commercial shelf that can be bought by the average homeowner?

I used to like acrylic in everything, but it seems like the tides are changing. A rivet can hold steel shelves up very well, and I can think of a million ways to use these things at home. I'm going to visit some shops around the neighborhood for more ideas like this.

It seems like we are having an industrial revolution in our home because my wife has become obsessed with cleanliness. The health inspector was at our restaurant last week, and now she wants to rip out everything that's wood and put up metal shelving. It sounds like a lot of work.

Four our restuarant, we decided to get some racks to hang up and display some of our other bottled products up on the wall. It was very interesting to read how these things came into existence. I had now idea that they had been around for so very long in history.

I think it might be time to update our store, but I was unsure whether we wanted acrylic or steel shelves. I bet that the metal ones would last a lot longer, but if I can't find them used, I don't know if we can afford them. I'll be on the lookout.

We are setting up a new restaurant, and my husband wants to get some boltless commercial shelving. We had a fight about how it could hang on the wall without bolts, but he gave up trying to explain it to me. I was hoping to find more information about how they work.

I recently took over an old restaurant and I was surprised at the amount of repairs I have to do. However, the steel shelves are one thing I won't be replacing. The menu, well, that's another story.
